CERN -The Beginning of the Mini Big Bang Experiment without Hype or Panic

Click here for Free Industry Resources!

Scientists at CERN launched the Big Bang experiment on 10th September 2008, i.e.  last Wednesday this week.

The Scientists at CERN under the guidance of project leader Lyndon Evans, from Aberdare in South Wales, began the first launch at 8.30 am British time.

They were  successful in sending the particle beam that traversed the 27-km long  tunnel. The beam of proton was accelerated by the LHC and sent in both the directions at two different moments.

Once in the clockwise direction before 9.30 a.m. and the second in an anti-clockwise beam after 2 P.M. BST.

During both occasions the beam of proton achieved ‘full beam’, meaning that the stream of sub-atomic particles were able to gain enough energy that enabled it to cover the total length pf LHC’s 27 kilometre-long circular tunnel at just under the speed of light.

The long tunnel that houses the Large Hadron Collider (LHC)  runs alongside the Jura Mountains 100 meters below the earth surface  in the border between Switzerland and France.

This experiment is an attempt under controlled laboratory condition to determine what the universe was like when it was still in a Plasma state at a moment which is suppose to be 23 times less than a second, i.e. billionths of a second after the Big Bang had occured, that supposedly triggered the formation of the Universe.

The whole experiment is being carried out in the biggest and most complex machine ever to be built, which is the £5 billion Large Hadron Collider, a particle accelerator, at CERN  in Geneva.

With the help of this powerful accelerator two beams of subatomic particles called 'hadrons' which could be either protons or lead ions would be made to travel in opposite directions  inside the circular accelerator, each time gaining energy with every lap.

The two beams of sub-atomic particles would be made to travel in opposite direction in two separate beam pipes or tubes kept in ultrahigh vacuum and guided by strong magnetic fields from Super Conducting Magnetic coils kept in liquid helium at a temperature colder than Space i.e at around ‑271°C.

For the final collision special magnets would guide the two beams that would put them in a collision course before the actual 'Mini Bang' happens.

The Hadrons or protons would be made to travel in opposite directions with  respect to each other at almost the speed of light on October 22 and made to collide in a manner that they smash into each other with cataclysmic force thereby causing the quarks that make up the protons to be released  during the process.

Scientists are interested to study the behaviour and force of these sub-atomic particles created during such a collision and when separated with each other as a result, using special detectors.

By recreating the universe's Big Bang, particle physicists hope to learn more about the physical universe that would help overcome an anamoly in the Standard Model regarding the presence or absence of mass and matter.

For example, scientists believe they will learn more about the actual mass of particles, and about the nature of dark matter, and whether there are 26 dimensions, or just 12.

The whole experiment regarding this particular aspect of particle physics has generated lot of interest the world over particualrly amongst  ordinary men and women including in India.

Instead of hype it was panic which created such a lot of interest amongst the common people who feared that the machine would trigger the Doomsday and create a massive catastrophe as some maverick scientists had earlier warned of.

It was all because of a calculation that went awry that pointed out if such an experiment is actually created under labrotary condition it would create a mini black hole.

This would begin an uncontrollable chain reaction through time and space and in turn would ultimately not only  swallow the Earth but could also rip apart the whole universe.

The CERN team are confident that such an experiment does not carry any  threat to either the Earth or the Universe.

In case such a possibility does arise it would at best destroy the laboratory, but certainly not the Earth.

They appeared totally relaxed and joked amongst themselves as they turned on the most sophisticated and highly impressive machine that man ever built.

Toy Industry is Excess of $86 Billion Market by 2010 World Wide

Click here for Free Industry Resources!

Friends!

Are you involved with the Toy Industry? If so then I must really congratulate you for being part of a highly lucrative industry.

For those who are involved in the business of making and selling of toys for children have an excellent future.

Even though video and computer games have become popular and the toy industry were initially scared of being edged out, however as they say when things become tough the tough gets going.

The toy industry with their continued innovation and love to amuse the children the world over with all kinds of wonderful and colorful toys have been able to increase their sales volume.

Parents of children and the children themselves have not lost their love for toys as was so in the past when computers and play stations were not around.

Sales for toys are simply booming. According to the latest report made available by one of USA's leading Market Research group the NPD, the global market for toys would touch $86.3 billion if not more by 2010.

The Global Toy Trends and Forecast by NPD provides a detailed pattern of toy sales since 2004, the world over. The report also provides detailed analysis of toy sales in different countries and demographic buying pattern in each region based on gender and age group of the people buying toys.

According to the latest findings the toy industry have been able to increase the volume of sales for toys to $71.96 billion in 2007.

This figure is five percent more than the $68.5 billion in sales the previous year i.e. in 2006.

As per the report the following is the sales pattern in various countries.

  • 33% in North America
  • 30% in Europe
  • 24% in Asia

The report has also observed that as per current trend in toy sales as well as further expansion of the toy market in Asia, the growth rate is expected to reach 18% by 2010 in the largest continent.

It is expected that Asia would soon be able to catch up with Europe in terms of volume of sales for toys and would shortly be able to outpace them.

The BRIC countries comprising of future economic giants namely Brazil, Russia, India and China are largely responsible for contributing to the engine of growth for toys.

These BRIC market is already comprising of 11.2% of the toy market in 2007. Earlier it was only 8.8%.

Although sales for toys in the USA has been lately disappointing however once the downturn in the world economy ends NPD hopes there would be a revival in the percentage of global sales volume for toys in the United States and there is still greater hope for the Toy Industry to make money while the children the world over continues to play.

Old Newspapers from the Distant Past Brought to You by Google Search

Click here for Free Industry Resources!

Friends!

I have good news for you today. This one is particularly interesting since its about contents from newspapers predating the digital past.

Now it would be possible for you to read old newspapers online completely as they had then appeared in print many years ago, when you and I were perhaps not born as of yet.

This is yet another gift from Google who have in joint collaboration with an initial hundred newspaper publishers around the world have begun the process of adding yet more contents from the past that is to be made available online shortly.

Google has taken the initiative to make available old newspapers from  archives of respective newspaper publishers for the convenience of internet surfers with appetite to read and study the past as they unfolded each day on their computer screen.

The methods and technology adopted for scanning is the same as those undertaken for Google Books.

I have always been interested in articles that had once appeared in old newspapers and magazines. Such articles lets you get a glimpse of  what all kinds of events and happenings that used to take place in those days, which created news headlines then.

Some of them were burning issues  that gave shape to the world we see presently, such as when man set foot on the moon for the first time in the history of mankind or when the Berlin Wall came tumbling down, raising the iron curtain that ended the Cold War, so on and so forth.

Moreover advertisements and articles on fashion, food, lifestyle all of these  gives you an idea of the aspirations of the people living then and what all products and gadgets were available that was the envy of those who desired to have them and that gave pride, joy and entertainment to the people who posessed them in those bygone era.

Reading old newspaper clippings suddenly transforms you to a different place and era, much like old movies or documentary films that lets us know what it was all like, such as when the rich and mighty travelled by air on a Zepplin plane, much different from our present day wide bodied Jet air liners like the Airbus 380.

The pages of all these newspapers that appeared in print many decades before, have been carefully scanned in completion and digitalized, which are now available on websites for your perusal.

So now it will be possible to browse a complete newspaper as it then appeared in print such as the first edition that came out  in 1764 by one of North America's oldest newspaper such as the Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph.

"This effort will enable us to help you find an even greater range of material from newspapers large and small," wrote Google product manager Punit Soni on the company blog.

"This effort is just the beginning. As we work with more and more publishers, we'll move closer towards our goal of making those billions of pages of newsprint from around the world searchable, discoverable and accessible online."

For making it convenient for those delving deep into history that lay buried in the dusty shelves of Newspaper Offices the world over, Google has come up with a specially designed algorithm that can easily pick up any article that you are looking for.

As soon as a surfer wishes to know about a particular piece of information say the events that followed the dropping of the first Atom Bomb over Japan in Hiroshima or that of Mahatma Gandhi's brutal  assassination  by a fanatic, the Google Search would take the surfer to the particular article that appeared in any newspaper of ones choice.

Articles relating to the same subject or event that appeared in other newspapers would be mentioned in the right hand side of the web page containing the particular article for which the surfer is looking for.

Google would as usual earn revenues that it wishes to share with the newspapers offering the contents in the form of Adsense.

The announcement about this special feature added to the Google Search  that looks out for old newspaper articles, was made by Marissa Mayer who is the vice president for search related products for Google.

She unveiled and demonstatred this particular Google feature at the TechCrunch50 conference in San Francisco.

The TechCrunch50 is a forum for entrepreneurs with excellent innovative ideas that are by itself revolutionary. This gives them an opportunity to showcase their project to participating Venture Capitalist as well as the Technology Industry that woudld determine the future course of technological progress.

I am sure you too would find this latest feature from Google useful when you wish to know what all happened in the past.

eShopping - How to shop online safely and securely using credit cards

Online Click here for Free Industry Resources!

Friends!

I am sure like everyone else you too must be enjoying the thrill of eShopping.

Online shopping is convenient for making ones purchases from the comfort of ones home.

No need to step outside your house while its perhaps raining or snowing while you remain cooped up cozily and place all your orders online using the Personal Computer or Laptop having an internet access.

All you need to do is place orders and make the payments using the credit card for those items that are being offered for sale.

These items are sold on the internet by specific websites involved in e-retailing or simply etailing.

This is something similar to mail order business. The items are then delivered to your own address or any other one that you specifically mention, suppose when you wish to gift somebody.

Online shopping has turned out to be a hit particularly when people have become price conscious and wish to make a comparison of the different websites that are offering attractive discounts on similar or same items.

Moreover with rising fuel prices and long hours at the office are turning more and more people to the internet to make their purchases online instead of taking the trouble to drive to a store or a mall and then spend an hour or so hunting for the particular item.

Although online shopping is turning out to be popular by the day, however one needs to exercise caution to prevent fraudulent misuse of your credit card and bank details by online thieves or hackers waiting to pounce on the information that you send across the internet to place your orders.

These cyber criminals are waiting to get the details of your credit card and make their own purchases without your knowledge in a clandestine operation of which you have the scantiest idea at all.

It is with the purpose of making you aware of the many loopholes that exists on the internet and which cyber criminals most often take advantage of that I have for your convenience listed some of the precaution that you need to have.

If I have ever been duped by deceit I have never enjoyed the experience after I had realized that someone had dared to cheat me in broad daylight.

Well the experiences are always bitter unless you learn from your mistake such as not to repeat it ever again   and laugh it off many years later down memory lane.

Precaution 1

Never trust anyone, even if the person is an employee of a reputed company. Do not ever rattle out the details of your credit card over the phone, for the employee could put you on the spot by making purchases for personal use without your knowledge or that of the company for whom he works for.

According to David Bowles, who is the president of San Antonio based dabow inc., that advices companies on online transaction, its always safe to enter your credit card number in the website's secured payment gateway.

Precaution 2

Beware of fraudulent websites that appears legitimate, but have been set up by master criminals . These duplicate or fraud websites are meant to dupe the innocent online shopper into thinking that they are entering into a genuine website of some reputed company where as its actually the opposite.

It is possible that you come across a link, possibly in some website or article that you came across on the website, better still recommended by an email. You follow the link that takes to a website that exactly appears same as the one which is genuine. You are then asked to fill up a form where you give the details of your credit card.

This is how people are being duped dime a dozen and ripped off completely. You realize only after few days after you receive the credit card statement of items you never ordered for.

In a survey carried out by Gartner Inc., as much as $3.2 Billion has been lost last year alone in the United States because of such fraudulent means using fake websites.

So as precaution and your own safety its best to type in the actual address of the particular website in the Address Bar. Do not try to follow a link just because it appears to be genuine.

Moreover look out for the browser to turn green after you have typed in the address. This shows that the website has been paid for and hence has undergone verification process to validate that the business is a legitimate one.

Precaution 3

When placing an order from a website always make sure that the order page has an encryption service to scramble all the details that you send when placing the order. This prevents hackers to make heads or tails of the information in case they intercept it fraudulently.

Precaution 4

Look out for website that has an "s" which follows after the "http" such as the "https" instead of simply an "http" in the web address.

So whenever you place an order be particular to make note that the web address of the Order page of the particular shopping website has an 'https'.

Precaution 5

Another is of course the classic display of a closed padlock, most often shown in the status bar at the bottom of the screen.

In case you notice the lever is open it immediately notifies that the website is unsecured and should be best avoided for any further transaction if at all.

PLR - The Usefulness of Marketing Software Program with Private label Rights

Click here for Free Industry Resources!

Software With Private Label Rights

by Rohde Lars

It’s staring at you from the store shelves. Yes, it is that software program that is pretty good but it is missing that special something that could make it even better. What a shame you are not in a position to improve upon it. Wait a minute, you are in that position.

When people hear about business opportunities associated with private label rights, they often assume that this is exclusively a business that revolves around rewriting ebooks. Now, while ebooks definitely comprise a significant volume of the market share of private label rights, they are not one hundred percent of the market.

In fact, a significant volume of the market is comprises of opportunities to sell software with private label rights and this venture often has the potential to be more financially lucrative than most ebook ventures could ever hope to dream of! There are a number of factors for this and these factors will be spotlighted as a way of providing a little guiding light on this subject.

The first step in getting started with this amazing opportunity is to examine all of the programs that you can create. When it comes to software, many individuals feel that they have to create a top of the line product. The reality is that you only need to create a software program that will be used. For instance, did you know that a software program could actually be used to assist daycare providers, among other professionals. There are many daycare providers who need a way to organize all of their paperwork. A professional software program will allow them to do this, in a matter of minutes. Daycare software programs are just a few of the many programs that you can make; in fact, the possibilities are literally endless.

The purpose of software with private label rights is that the person who enters into a business agreement with the distributor of the software can re-brand and rewrite the software so as to make it uniquely their own. This way one could tweak the software to appeal to different personal or business needs that might exist in the marketplace. If an individual who hits upon a new and innovative idea and exports this idea in the form of software with private label rights, then the ability to have an explosive seller on the market is highly possible. This can be significantly more lucrative than an ebook private label rights venture.

While some people are not all that interested in reading, virtually everyone has a need for one software program or another. As such, the market demand for software will always be more than the demand for ebooks. Additionally, an innovative software program that expands upon what previously existed in the marketplace is almost always in demand.

If you are able to financially afford the cost of purchasing software resell rights, you are encouraged to take part in this amazing opportunity, even if you only give it a chance. For many with a disability, this is the perfect way to make money. To make money with private label resell rights, you must sell your newly acquired product. There are a number of different ways that you can do about doing this. It is likely that you will find that many of these selling methods require a small amount of time and a small amount of effort.

A talented software revisionist need not be without a home anymore. Thanks to the marketing opportunities available through software with private label rights opportunities a great programmer can become a great and successful entrepreneur overnight. So why not take advantage of this opportunity?

Free Webcast - Forrester Explores and analyzes 5 common myths regarding IT disasters

Click here for Free Industry Resources!

Information is Wealth. Any company values all information and data that it thinks are vital and are considered an asset to the company.

Information stored in digital form are highly valued and needs to be protected well.

A full proof strategy is a must to have a system that provides proper IT Disaster Management for protection.

However there are  certain myths i.e those without substantial evidence or proof to validate about some aspects of IT disaster.

This needs to be addressed before formulating an optimal strategy to deal with the security and safety of the data stored and other aspects of the Information Technology adopted in the system.

Its with such an intention that Stephanie Balaouras of Forrester identified five common myths concerning IT disasters.

This includes one great myth that data centres are absolutely safe and are not vulnerable to any uneventful disaster that could strike unleashing considerable loss and damage.

Its exactly why Stephanie set upon the task to make corporations aware of such myths which might lull them into complacence with a false sense of security, whereas its just the contrary.

No wonder Stephanie has been able to give detailed information about the kind of approach that corporations most often adopt to deal with any of these attacks, if any, or prepare to brace any unforeseen disaster while all the time believing into these myths that has more often than not ended up in great failures and loss.

Stephanie has  stressed upon the importance of having a thorough analysis on the kind of impact that IT Disaster management would  have on business before any proper decision is taken on the kind of technological update that's needed as part of a strategy to deal with IT disaster that could cause any system to go haywire.

As part of the solution Stephanie has delved deep into her long experience of dealing with a vast array of varied corporate clients, to provide the right kind of solutions or strategy in such matters of concern regarding IT disaster as preventive measures.

So its for your knowledge and convenience that HP and Forrester research has brought out a webcast that actually deals at length the various aspects of the IT disaster particularly the one that's caused by the 5 common myths .

The web cast also explains to you about the various strategies that would provide you with vital suggestions to deal with the most common forms of IT disaster.

Here too you get to learn how Patrick Eitenbichler of HP describes the continuum for Business Continuity and Availability which matches applications appropriately having proper recovery technologies.

Functional Programming Offers Better Security to Software than Procedural Programming

Click here for Free Industry Resources!

More and more experienced computer software programmers are realizing the importance of Functional Programming.

One great advantage that Functional Programming have is that they offer better security to software.

Functional Programming offers better security than Imperative Programming such as Procedural Programming or Object-oriented programming.

This is because Functional Programming, according to most computer scientists or computer software engineers, lacks any sort of "Side Effects".

In Imperative or Procedural Programming "side effects" are employed so that the program actually functions the way its programed to do so.

The Side Effect depends on the "state" or some hidden information that changes with the progress of the program step by step.

For example, a function might modify a global or a static variable, modify one of its arguments, write data to a display or file, or read some data from other side-effecting functions. Side effects often make a program's behavior more difficult to predict.

In Imperative or Procedural Programming "side effects" are employed so that the program actually functions the way its programed to do so.

The Side Effect depends on the "state" or some hidden information which continues to change with the progress of the program while following certain sequential procedure.

A function could cause side effect by modifying the static or global variable. It could also do so by modifying the arguments or write some data in a file or is displayed or it could be when it reads a data from other side-effecting functions.

Hence its important for any programming languages to have access to pertinent information regarding the particular "State" which the programmer is not aware of. Such an information on the state is required if the program is to operate accordingly for the desired outcome.

However most often such information about the state remains hidden from the programmer making it very difficult to predict the outcome.

Its very similar to the frustration of lighting up a bulb using a "three way switching system" as experienced in the real world.

The bulb would only glow when you pull the switch in a particular direction provided you are aware of the postion of the other switch that's hidden away from view. Only after some trial and error you could possibly figure it out that could make it very irritating indeed.

In imperative programming such as procedural programming the statements are structured into procedures (that are also referred as as subroutines or functions).

The in built  programming in the various hardware of computers are all imperative i.e. the machine code is designed in imperative style.

Thats why it becomes difficult for programmer to know the hidden state of the hardware in which the software is to be installed.

So when designing the CPU there are instruction side effects which actually modify the internal CPU without explicitly stating it.

Thats why in general the instruction ADD may or may not modify condition variables (carry, zero, overflow, etc) in the status register.

This causes a problem when designing a CPU that has an instruction pipeline and supports instructions with side-effects.

Side Effects often make a program's behavior more difficult to predict. The programmer finds its exceedingly difficult to exactly determine which particular state could be important and those that could be safely ignored or discarded.

To overcome such difficulty in predicting the particular state most computer languages insists that the programmer add as much of extra code to determine which of the data and parts of the code are to be considered prominent.

No wonder such imperative programming makes the probability to make mistakes on the part of the programmer all the more.

So while writing the code it's quite likely that some dangerous bugs might appear since it could happen because the programmer failed to determine the various hidden states that are to be managed by the program.

The failures could also happen because of misinterprating the exact nature of each of the states and the relationship enjoyed amongst themselves that are in the collection.

It could also arise while overlooking  a supposedly insignificant variable that takes up a value during the imperative procedure because of an unexpected input.

It could also arise because of some typing error when writing the name of some object or variable.

Sometimes certain bugs could prevent the program to compile or run, which remains undetected to the programmer who created the program for some vital software project.

However some plucky hacker with malacious intention could quite likely discover such a bug present in the program.  The hacker then works out a strategy to make use of the loophole for clandestine purpose by breaching into the security.

Its much later after considerable damage had been done, does the bug come into surface and the programmer has to once again work all over again to plug the loop holes that's causing the bugs to appear making the software vulnerable to attack.

Such a problem as seen in an imperative or procedural program such as an object-oriebnted program is minimized to a great extent in case of a Functional Programming language.

In Functional Code the vraiables are missing. In functional programming with some exceptions in certain cases, is usually a chain of various functions, where the output of one function becomes the input of the other and so on.

In imperative program its the other way round where the program is depended on the various variables present. It uses variables and vraious complex statements.

Values of varaibles that determines the state is entered as input which are then stored for such variables.

These values of the vraiables are then manipulated in a sequential procedure such as evaluation of complex expressions, consisting of perhaps a combination of various arithmetic operations and function evaluations.

The procedure in an imperative program may include looping statement and conditional branching.

Looping statements such as in while loops, do while loops and for loops allow a sequence of statements to be executed as many times it has been specified to carry out.

Conditional branching statements allow a block of statements to be executed only if some condition is met.

Otherwise, the statements are skipped and the execution sequence continues from the statement following the block.

Unconditional branching statements allow the execution sequence to be transferred to some other part of the program. These include the jump, called "goto" in many languages, and the subprogram, or procedure, call.

Such complexities in programming such as in an imperative programming is not seen in a functional programming.

Functional programming are considered declarative programming similar to logic programming and constraint programming.

Declarative programming  is different from imperative programming.

Declarative programming  does not describes how to create something instead it teaches what that something is really like.

Even HTML web pages are considered as a declarative program. This is because  HTML program  describes what a page should contain, but not how  the page should be displayed on a computer screen.

Since each functional code are predefined and its properties declared so there is no need to create any function since its already meant to give specific results without causing any side effects in doing so.

The function result value does not depend on any hidden information or state that may change as program execution proceeds.

The functional is not dependant on any external input such as from I/O devices.

The function always evaluates the same result value given the same argument value(s) and is only dependant on the specific argument values and nothing else, even if its not required for the function to depend on any or all of the arguments.

Functional programming thus is able to eliminate many of the undesirable problems that may arise while writing the code and keeping the level of errors to the bare minimum.

That's how functional programming has been able to secure a software better much in contrast to the difficulties that arise in implementing the same using imperative or procedural programming.

Even though Haskell is considered a highly pure functional language than any LISP based language.  Its totally free of any side effects, and there is no change in the explicit state or state changes at all. Even then Haskell is considered to be impure.

Pure functional languages are suppose to have algorithms or data structures that does not undergo any kind of modification or update in its state that could cause destruction or make it vulnerable to attacks.

algorithms, data structures or programming languages that exclude destructive modifications (updates).

However its important to note that writing pure functional code is simply impossible.

Most languages can be assigned to one of the following classifications of programming languages:

Lisp is functional, Java is object oriented, C is procedural, and Prolog is declarative.

However none of them are strictly pure as per the above classification.

Wi-Fi Security - Prevent Hackers and Piggy Backers from Misusing Online Household Wireless Network Users

Click here for Free Industry Resources!

Caveat to All Wi-Fi Users

Beware of Hackers who Misuse Others Wi-Fi Wireless Network

Wi-Fi Household Users the World Over including those in the USA, Europe and Asia-Pacific are Falling Victim to Hackers who Piggyback on their Network by Misusing their Internet Account for Crime and other Illegal/Unethical Activities  without the actual Wi-Fi Owners Knowledge or Consent.

Are you using Wi-Fi for internet access from home or office? If so then surely you must be adequately secured by having proper password protection for your wireless network.

If you as a Wi-Fi user fail to use the password for accessing the internet then you are causing yourself to be vulnerable to all kinds of criminal activities by some unscrupulous person amongst those who are in your immediate vicinity by piggybacking on your wireless network without your knowledge.

It has been found from a survey that there are many amongst us who either do not wish to use a password each time they access the internet using their Wi-Fi system or do not have one that adequately secure them from attacks by hackers who love to piggy back on others.

A good number of Wi-Fi users are there who  use others wireless network by piggybacking on them to download large files or adult content without the actual owners being aware of them.

By not using a proper password for your wireless network at home or while travelling could allow criminals with malafide intention to use your wireless network for some nefracious activities such as terrorism which could land you in serious trouble.

So to avoid swimming in the hot soup its better you remain well protected and do not take things for granted with the illusion of being in the confines of a closed room with not a soul to accompany you.

You might not know that your neighbor some 200 meters from where you are is actually snooping on you and could even steal your credit card password or that of your bank account during transaction.

How To Protect your Wi-Fi Wireless Network System from Piggybackers and Hackers?

An unsecured internet connection is just the same as leaving your front door open.

So take adequate precaution to stop neighbors from piggybacking at your expense and innocence by connecting to your wireless network and misusing your internet connection for free.

So are some important suggestions that you may take by taking the following steps for securing your Wi-Fi Network.

As already mentioned have your Wi-Fi network well protected by using a password that works and cannot be broken into easily. Frequently change the passwords.

Use WPA Encryption instead of a WEP to prevent hackers to access information in files.

Use  proper firewall configured properly.

Change the defauld SSID - or, better yet disable the SSID broadcast.

Buy a PCMCIA card that has management software that can connect if the SSID is not broadcasted.

Set your filters to allow only specific MAC addresses.

Make sure to strategically place the wireless router where it has the hardest time broadcasting outside of the home, like say in the basement.

As a final security precaution, consider limiting access to
network adapters with specific MAC addresses.

Close your networks (in AirPort lingo or disable SSID broadcasting for you PC folks) and use the built-in encryption/security features of your router/access point. At the very least connect to your router's web-administration page and change the default password for the admin account.

If you're still unsure, switch back to hardwired Ethernet connections... that's a REALLY secure connection.

Comcast To Limit Unlimited Usage Exceeding 250 GB per month

Click here for Free Industry Resources!

Its now official, Comcast has finally admitted in principle that it does have an invisible usage limit which is not specified but would officially come into force begining October 1st, this year(2008).

The Philadelphia based Comcast Corp is USA's largest cable operator. Recently, Comcast is facing tremendous problem in dealing with heavy usage of the internet by some subscriber.

This is hampering optimal service to each of the account holders particularly the  internet users in residential blocks.

Recently the phone and cable companies offering high speed internet services are finding it exceedingly difficult with heavy users. There are some  subscribers who according to the service providers are abusing the liberty to download as much as they can that are clogging the traffic.

These heavy residential internet users hardly seem to care if what they are doing is actually putting too much of a burden on net traffic that deprives the small users the convenience to surf smoothly.

With advance in net technology its not surprising any more when people prefer to watch online video, download music, photosharing, transfer of large files and what not, including online TV.

No wonder these cable service providers have been trying to find ways to manage the large volume of traffic so that the maximum number of subscribers are not put to any kind of difficulty while surfing and downloading files.

As Web usage has rocketed, driven by the popularity of watching online video, photo-sharing and music downloading services, cable and phone companies have been considering various techniques to limit or manage heavy usage.

It's by sheer frustration that it began to identify incorrigable and pathological internet users that far exceeded the avearge usage by most subscribers. In order to put a curb on these monstrous users Comcast decided to issue warnings in random to whoever they found were seen crossing  the unofficial limit of 250 GB in a single month. They were warned of being penalised by having their subscription terminated if repeated.

This heavy handedness did not come down too well. The U.S. Federal Communications Commission was flooded with complaints by several consumer groups against Comcast for blocking peer-to-peer applications such as the BitTorrent. To pacify flared tempers the Commission demanded that Comcast make appropriate modification in its network management earlier this month.

As a stop gap measure Comcast has finally decided that instead of resorting to illegal termination of subscribers it has decided to put a cap on each residential account holder.

However Comcast is reluctant to admit the exact figure they wish to decide for a cap, which according to them could be flexible depending on the traffic in a particular location. It could be slightly higher than the 250 GB or it could be even much less than that.

They have vaguely defined "Excessive Users" as anyone  who “downloads the equivalent of 30,000 songs, 250,000 pictures or 13 million emails in a month.” This is equivalent to just 90 GB.

However as of now the Comcast subscribers are being adviced to keep down the limit to below 250 GB. If at any moment a subscriber is found to exceed the limit, a warning would be issued over the phone to the subscriber. If in a six month time frame  the subscriber fails to check their usage and commits the offence twice their subscription would be terminated for a year as penalty.

According to some consumer group the 250 GB is sufficient for an average user which is the equivalent of 50 million e-mails or 124 standard-definition movies.

Comcast are of the opinion that this limit to their unlimited usage would affect only 1% of its 14 million subscribers in USA. The rest 99% would not be affected by such a policy.

At the end of the year Comcast hopes to revamp its communication management policy. It would instead of demanding a flat fee for a supposedly unlimited usage would now consider pricing its bill according to the amount of usage.

Till then the heavy users have to move cautiously instead of going on an overdrive and overshoot the limit inadvertently that would attract penalty chages of being debarred by the Comcast's Customer Security Assurance (CSA) .

Google Suggest to Guess the Right Keywords to Help Surfers and PPC Ad Campaigners

Click here for Free Industry Resources!

Google is adding a new feature in its Google Search engine which would ease much of the problems faced by Googlers in using the right keywords to search something very special on the net.

Its very important to use the right keywords that not only is spelt correctly but is also associated with the particular subject that one wants to look up for from those websites that actually discusses the specific niche at length.

Sometimes it so happens that a keyword might mean several things and Google failed to guess the one which the surfer wanted. At best it came up with results, so long, of those websites that were ranked high in terms of popularity for a particular keyword.

Even though the keyword used for the search has been spelt correctly yet it fails to match the particular subject that the searcher is actually googling for. This heightens the frustation and the surfer has to use several combination of keywords or maybe in a conversation mode to make the right combination.

After several hits and misses, the surfer finally homes in on the particular website that it had been looking for.

Google understood the problem and to make it easier and convenient, it had been working on this problem for the past four years to help Google guess the right combination of keywords that's pertinent to the particular subject, idea, place, product, service or article.

Google Suggest provides a list of query suggestions when users start typing in the search box, helping to formulate queries and reduce spelling errors. The feature is similar to Google's "did you mean?" feature but works in real time.

As soon as anyone begins to type the keyword in the Google search box, the Google Suggest would come up with a list of keyword combinations to choose from.

This saves time, avoids making spelling mistakes and also helps Google Search to guess which of the combination of keywords is the one that you are possibly looking for. This feature is user friendly.

Say I typed the word "Cool" in the Google Search Box. It came up with the following suggestions along with the total number of results for each combination.

Cool Games,  CoolToad, Coolchaser, Cool text, Cool names, Cool Running, Cool wallpaper, Cool quotes, Cool kids, Coolermaster.

However SEO and Webmasters are slightly apprehensive about this feature since they are of the opinion that it would cut into the longtail keywords and typo traffic volume.

However anyone who is enterprising would always find some glimpse of opportunity to cash on. One could find the number of results that each of the combination of keywords that are mentioned in the query list from Google Suggest.

The one which gives the least number of results would most likely to have less competition for that particular combination of keywords. So those involved in PPC campaign could easily bid for such a combination of keywords at very modest price.

Business Home Opportunity: don't be a "Prisoner" of Work for someone else

Click here for Free Industry Resources!

Are you tired of going to work for someone else every morning? Is getting up at 5am, 6am (or earlier), getting dressed, getting yourself ready for the day, dealing with commuting getting to be a bit much? Wouldn't you rather be working for YOURSELF for a change? How about being able to make your income working for yourself, instead of making money for someone else?

My name is Paul. I'm a Prisoner of Work.

Let me be clear on that - I work a Monday through Friday schedule and I am home in the evenings and on weekends. However, my time spent working is spent at a job where I work for someone else. That income is dependant on my employer's willingness to continue to hire me.

Until now...

I have for the past two years begun working for myself, doing Internet Marketing. I won't lie to you, I am not able to quit my regular job yet but I fully intend on doing so when I am able to support myself through this Internet Marketing work.

The same can happen for you - but you need to take action. Yes, it is up to you. No one will do this for you. I can tell you that help is available to you. If you're ready to tell your boss BUH-BYE, take a look at these resources for making the move to being financially self-sufficient:

My Blog: http://www.prhsolutions.com/blog
I am regularly examining and trying programs, methods, etc for making money on the internet. Some give varying levels of success some I find to be duds. Take a look and see for yourself what I've found, then decide which programs to try for yourself.

Rosalind Gardner's Super Affiliate Handbook: http://tinyurl.com/un97j
Rosalind is one of the true heavy hitters of online marketing. In the Super Affiliate Handbook, she explains how she consistently makes a very impressive income online. One of the interesting things about her is she primarily promotes other people's products and manages to make a very nice income. I've read two editions of this handbook and highly recommend them.

CBMall: http://tinyurl.com/9ajlf
Jeff Mulligan is another brilliant and successful marketer I've come across. His CBMall provides an easy to use mall type of website that focuses on selling the various ebooks offered through Clickbank (http://tinyurl.com/ymo83q). The setup for CBMall is very simple and quick. I've been able to use CBMall and make sales after running ads, which I learned how to do from Jeff's help materials associated with CBMall.

Commission Junction: http://www.cj.com/
This is a great program for you to sign up. Commission Junction is one of the largest sites of its kind out there. They handle scores of merchants with affiliate programs. The idea is simple: sign up for a free account with Commission Junction, which gives you access to many programs you can promote for a profit.

There is a Japanese proverb that says "Thought without action is daydream, Action without thought is nightmare". If you are really serious about making a living working for yourself, you owe it to yourself to do your research.

I'm working on breaking out of my work "prison". How about you?

I encourage you to try one or more of the programs I mentioned above, and to let me know how you're doing! Sign up for my blog at http://http//www.prhsolutions.com/blog/?page_id=9 to keep up to date with the latest! I could use some cellmates in my work "prison" - lets share ideas and help each other break out into financial freedom!

I'll be in touch!

Google Map Maker - The Indian Factor

Click here for Free Industry Resources!

Google Map Maker

Google has once again come up with a new product the "Google Map Maker". This is the outcome of a concerted effort of a team of brilliant and talented Indian software engineers working with the Googles.

According to Lalitesh Katragadda, Software Engineer and Creator of Google Map Maker, this product is one of those that allows people from all walks of life to participate in adding and editing minute details in a map. It solves an inherent need especially for countries such as India where map data is sparse.

Cartographers are only concerned with the topography and the communication channels such as the towns, cities and villages that are spread out over a wide area. It however misses the variety of trees for the forest, so to speak literally.

Thats exactly where the Google Map Maker gives the people an opportunity to identify the many small roads, land marks such as your favorite joint or store.

This product embodies Googles passion to empower people everywhere, to share knowledge of the places they know best by creating maps. That's how Lalitesh sums up the purpose of the Google Map Maker.

With Google Map Maker you will be able to add or edit any features, be it any apartment buildings, business locations, shopping malls or departmental stores, neighborhood, parks, multiplex, theatres, restaurants, schools, colleges or any other educational institutions among others.

Once you add the details about any particular location, this user-created geographical content is updated and which is immediately made available for others to see.

"This is a great achievement for our engineering team” said Dr Prasad Ram, Head of Google R&D in India.

The Google Map Maker would indeed be of great value and use for countries like India, where the landscape of the cities and towns are experiencing hyper growth and urbaniztion. Each day some new bulding, landmark, flyover or underpass is being constructed, and immediately people can pin point them on the map for others to follow.

Other than India, Google Map Maker is available in 57 countries in Asia, the Island Nations, and the Caribbean.

Know Your Best Customers by Bob Sullivan

How Well Do You Know Your Best Customers?

By Bob Sullivan
Expert Author
Article Date: 2008-08-05

As a marketer, how much do you really know about your best customers? How much more should you know in order to retain them and find more like them?

I've posted several times about the importance of complete current top customer knowledge, Too Many Marketers Have Too Little Customer Knowledge and What You Don't Know About Your Best Customers Equals What You Don't Know About Your Best Prospects.

I can't stress this enough because without knowing your best customers, you and your sales reps are just floundering when it comes to effective lead generation and customer retention. It's like trying to catch a fish without the right lures or equipment. You probably won't catch what you want.

Most sales & marketing experts will agree that defining your best prospects and retaining your best customers hinges on what you actually know about those current best customers. They are the key to a successful business future. If you don't know them, you don't know enough.

So, how much do you know about your best customers and how much more should you know?

Here is a list of vital key customer knowledge that every marketer should be gathering and leveraging to keep their best customers and find more like them.
Correct Name (seems simple, but think of how many different ways the same company is spelled and entered into your systems)
HQ address and other location addresses - plants, service points, etc.
Phone, Fax, Website, Email
Primary SIC code, and secondary if applicable
Industry Segment (your classification for analysis)
Annual revenue
Employee size
Number of years in business
Parent company (if any) and applicable information about them
Company divisions or units, if any, how many and what products do each sell
Merger and acquisition history
Partners and affiliations
Major customers
Primary products and other related products
Product (s) they buy from you
What other products might they use from you? Which department/division/units might use your products, contact names, and will your current contact refer
How often they buy from you
Why they buy from you - price, quality, service, locations, effective communication, or other
How much of their total last year revenue was influenced by your product
How often you communicate with them and the method they prefer
Their current market share
Their major competitors and their competitors' current market share
What competitors do you sell to, what products, how much
Your share of customer wallet, share of competitor wallet and potential for each
Their current industry challenges
Their latest press releases and newsletters, plus external news on them
Trade publications the decision makers read/subscribe to
Lead Source - what lead source did they originate from
Outstanding proposals you have with them
Decision maker/Contact for each key account/division/unit, the product sold to those, along with titles, email, phone extensions for each and personal interests
Influencers to the decision makers, along with their contact information
I encourage everybody to comment and / or add to this list. Perhaps, together, we can build a very effective type of "Vital Best Customer Knowledge List" for the benefit of all marketers.

Article Marketing - Factors that Make Them Stand Out

Article Marketing Tricks That Make Your Articles Pop

 by London Rick

When you are marketing an article, there are several tricks that you might find to be helpful. Remember that these article tricks are going to be what ends up making you successful in your business. Therefore, you have to make sure that you are doing all that you can to get the most out of your articles, and that you are able to make sure you are doing all you can with the articles you submit to article directories.

First of all a good article marketing trick is to make sure that you are writing articles that are pertinent to what is going on in your field. This is something that is quite easy to do, because you can easily make sure that the articles you are writing are going to be popular and relevant to your topic. The best way to do this is to go around to the various sites that market and sell articles, and see what is selling the best. There should be lots of ways for you to find out what is needed today, and once you have found this out, you can write your articles to these specifications.

Another way to market articles is to make sure that you are writing them along the lines of something that is very popular or relevant to current events. A good way to do this is to take a look at what kind of things are making the news, and then see if you would be interested in writing articles about what you find and the nexus to your business. It is a great way to make sure that you are able to get the most out of your article writing, and it is going to be a great way to make sure you are able to actually get out there and write the articles that are going to be the most popular.

When it comes to actually marketing the article after you have written it, there are several tips to keep in mind. First of all, a great way to make sure that you have a good marketing plan is to double check the article and be sure that it fits into your niche. You want to be sure that the area where you are marketing the article is the right area. You should be sure that the article fits into this area, and that you are going to be able to sell it the best within this area. A good way to do this is to take a look at the other articles that are sold in the same niche. Does your article seem to fit there? Do you think that you are going to be able to really make the most out of it? These are all important points to consider.

Lastly, you always want to be sure that you are keeping yourself available for the marketing of your article. If your article is really going to be successful, there might be people who want to talk to you about it, or who have other questions about the article itself. Therefore you have to be sure that you are always there and that you are ready to answer any questions that might come up about your article. This is very important because if you want your article to be there for you, you want to make sure that you are there for your article in the best ways possible.

Create Word Clouds With TagCloud or Wordle

Fun tools called Wordle and TagCrowd allow you to create a word cloud for any text document you provide. You can also provide an URL to an article or webpage and these two tools will make a word cloud for it. On the right is a word cloud for the IWJ that TagCrowd created.Wordle is a toy for generating "word clouds" from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes. The images you create with Wordle are yours to use however you like. You can print them out, or save them to the Wordle gallery to share with your friends.
One interesting use of the Wordle tool was a comparison of John McCain and Barack Obama speeches that was posted here. You can see a gallery of other Wordles here.

Maybe Wordle or TagCrowd could be helpful for checking your short story or essay to see if you are using the same word too often.

PLR Articles - How to Make Good Use of them and not be Penalized

Click here for Free Industry Resources!

The Pros and Cons of PLR Articles for Content and Submission

 by Spaulding Joshua

We will start with some advantages. The main advantage of using PLR articles is that they can be purchased in bulk at a very cheap price. There are many writers offering these articles either through a membership site or through outsourcing. I would say the average price for an article with exclusive rights would be around fifteen to twenty dollars if it were quality. The average price for five to ten PLR articles is somewhere around ten dollars. What this means to the niche marketer is that they can get enough articles to promote their many sites at a fair price.

It is virtually impossible for one niche marketer to write enough articles to effectively promote tens or even hundreds of niche sites; this is where PLR articles come into play. Many PLR membership sites offer hundreds even thousands of articles per month for their members to download at their will. The members are allowed to submit any of these articles to article directories and claim authorship as well as place links to their sites.

Now for the disadvantages of PLR articles. If you are a Webmaster yourself, you know about the duplicate content penalty that most SE’s put in place. If they see the same content all over the place these pages will receive less traffic and they can even be de-indexed. This means this page in particular will no longer show up in SE results at all. The way to get around this is to modify the articles. So now you have a lot of articles that you paid a small fee for but they must all be modified in order to avoid the duplicate content penalty. For some this is a small feat, for others it is not worth the money to by PLR articles.

This duplicate content issue will not only hurt you as the publisher it will hurt the article directories in which you submit to. Article Directories can be a very valuable resource but it is extremely hard to figure out what article is un- modified PLR and what article is not. If an article directory is filled with mostly PLR articles it will most likely receive little SE traffic and be looked at as unimportant to the SE’s.

So if you decide to go ahead and start a PLR campaign for your sites be sure to modify them as much as possible. The more you can modify the article, the more unique it will be, giving it a higher ranking in the SE’s and we all know that means money in our pockets.

Wikia Search from Wikipedia to Pose Major Challenge to Google Search Engine Services

Click here for Free Industry Resources!

Jimmy Wales the founder of Wikipedia is heading a project called Wikia Search, which he hopes would very soon be able to make major inroads in the world of the internet search engine. He expects to corner a major portion of Google's large clientele base thereby hope to succeed in shrinking Google's dominination as the worlds most preferred internet search engine.

According to Wales, who was attending the Global Brand Forum in Singapore, Wikia Search wants to offer something better and unique, than what Google offers. The web surfers the world over are not totally satisfied with what the three major titans of the internet search engine market, Google along with Yahoo and Microsoft are offering to its surfers by and large.

The expectations of the webs surfers have gone up considerably and they are simply not happy with what they continue to receive in the form of information and search results of those websites that cater to their pertinent demand for a specific kind of information that they are scouting for from the net.

Unfortunately the sufers are left with very little choice to manoveur since according to the latest statistics available 90% of the sufers in the US have to depend on the outcome of these three major stalwarts in the field of search engine services, Google, Yahoo and Microsoft.

This monopoly is certainly not healthy for the growth and development of the internet market. Its exactly what worries the internet webmasters and sufers.

Its exactly because of this that Wkia Search is being developed on an open platform,  in which anyone can  participate similar to  the same principle of open soucre that had succefully worked for Wikipedia. This will help the surfers with better options.

Wales said Wikia Search will run on an open platform, similar to the principles behind Wikipedia, the popular online encyclopedia in which entries can be made and edited by anyone with an Internet connection.

"All of the existing search engines are proprietary black boxes," said Wales. "You have no idea how things are ranked and what's going on."

With Wikia Search, users "can participate in meaningful ways" when they browse the Internet, he said.
